Editors (et non « The Editors »)
est un groupe de rock indépendant britannique originaire de Birmingham.
L'amplitude épique de leur musique les font souvent comparer à
d'illustres prédécesseurs des années 1980 tels que Joy Division, Echo
and the Bunnymen, Kitchens of Distinction, etc. Ils ont néanmoins acquis
une première identité de groupe, surfant sur la "new new wave" initiée
par des groupes américains comme Interpol : atmosphère glaciale,
pochette sépulcrale à la Peter Saville, voix caverneuse de Tom Smith
(qui peut rappeler effectivement Ian Curtis), guitare incisive, batterie
syncopée, lignes de basse puissantes et oppressantes, mélodies
martiales et obsédantes, esthétique de l'urgence. Leur premier album The
Back Room (25 juillet 2005) obtient un succès critique immédiat.
Troisième album est en collaboration avec Flood.
